Uganda’s Brian Aliddeki makes his mark on the Sauti Za Busara festival

Aliddeki can be remembered during Talent Africa’s Pearl of Africa Star search in 2022, where he emerged as a semi-finalist.

From as far back as 2008 when Maurice Kirya announced his presence on the African continent, 2010 when a youthful Juliana Kanyomozi made her mark, to 2010 when Afrigo Band, Susan Kerunen and Jackie Akello among others, represented Uganda, Ugandans have always pulled off quite the performance.

From February 9 to 11, the 21st edition of the festival was held in Stone town, Zanzibar, Tanzania, and this time, Uganda’s only representative – Brian Aliddeki, stunned. 

Performing with his live band, the Afro-soul musician, who music fuses folklore, Aliddeki served the full-house crowd with his talented display of unique sounds from various traditional music instruments. He left the crowd in awe, on day one, with a captivating, engaging performance. 

Aliddeki can be remembered during Talent Africa’s Pearl of Africa Star search in 2022, where he emerged as a semi-finalist. He went to be become a recording artist, releasing songs like Njagala Nkwagale, Mujje Tulambule, Amatu, Enyonyi Muziinge, and Seruganda among others, off his Eka Waka album.

“With a vision to showcase Uganda’s vibrant cultural identity, Aliddeki Brian’s participation underscores his role as a cultural ambassador, promoting Ugandan heritage on an international platform,” said Talent Africa’s Aly Allibhai, who also accompanied Aliddeki to the festival.

Aliddeki is currently an undergraduate student at African Institute of Music.
