‘4040 Night’ returns with Caribbean theme

‘4040 Night’ is a regular on the organization’s calendar as a means to raise funds for its work. The organization recently completed the construction of a resource centre, in a bid to make learning and reading materials more accessible to children.

The 40 Days Over 40 Smiles Foundation (4040) will host a fundraising event of the year, to mobilize resources needed to further the organization’s work.

This will take place during the ‘4040 Night’ scheduled for November 3 at Motiv Bugolobi.

The idea is to spend the night with friends, old and new, experiencing Caribbean vibes while enjoying good food and music, and raising money.

‘4040 Night’ is a regular on the organization’s calendar as a means to raise funds for its work. The volunteer-based organization recently completed the construction of a state of the art resource centre, in a bid to make learning and reading materials more accessible to children.

The Angaza Resource Centre, as it is called, is an extension of 4040’s Angaza programme, in which volunteers make weekly visitors to community schools.

They spend time with children, sharing the joys of reading for fun and benefiting from skills like collaboration and team work.

The Angaza programme also teaches self-awareness, resourcefulness and change agency. These learners are the next generation of 4040 and the organization is equipping them to be positive change agents. 4040 is currently raising funds to stock up the resource centre.

It is through fundraisers such as ‘4040 Night’, as well as donations from individuals and companies that the organization was able to set up the Angaza Resource Centre.

According to Penninah Nabirye, the Head of Fundraising and Partnerships, “4040 Night offers a fun evening to play and catch up with friends while giving back to the community.”

She further adds that by attending the event, the attendee has supported the literacy of a child. Funds from the event will go towards purchasing more books, games, and learning aids to benefit the learners.

To participate in ‘4040 Night’, all you need to participate in ‘4040 Night’ is to register a team of five or more people for Shs 20,000 per person to battle in a quiz, sing your favourite songs at karaoke or play board games.
