GOtv has renumbered its channels, an approach that MultiChoice say will make it simpler for the viewer to find what they are looking for and to discover fresh content when they are in the mood for something new.
The changes in the numbering will take effect on Wednesday, April 19.
“To ensure that you can keep up with all the twists and turns of your favourite programmes and movies, we’ve embarked on a journey of renumbering our channels to make it as easy as possible for you,” MultiChoice Uganda said in a statement.
Partly, the company says, the move is to help address the difficulty involved in finding some of the content, which is as a result of grid growth over the years.
“As we’ve added more content to the GOtv platform over the years and the channel grid has grown and evolved, we’ve reached a point where some blocks are full, and some channels hide in hard-to-find places,” MultiChoice added.
In addition, some of GOtv’s language-specific channels, like GOtv’s Portuguese channels had been mixed with English-medium channels, making it tricky for the Portuguese customers to find what they’re looking for.
The new system will make the viewing experience as smooth and trouble-free as possible and easy to find the newest content on GOtv channels.
As such, flagship channels, popular local channels, movies, and telenovelas all have their own clearly marked blocks. Movie channels, sports channels and kids channels will be moved closer to each other.
Local channels will now be at the front of the channel list. Henceforth, UBC will be on 315, NBS TV(316), NTV Uganda (317), Bukedde (318), Bukedde 2 (319), Smart 24 (320), Spark TV (321), Urban TV (323), TV West (324), BBS TV (325).
Pearl Magic is now 301 while Pearl Magic Loko is 302 and Pearl Magic Prime is 303.
The company says the improved numbering will now make the process of adding new channels less troublesome.
