‘Thor’ actor, Chris Hemsworth describes safari trip in Kenya as “memorable”

Hemsworth is known for films like ‘Star Trek’, ‘Red Dawn’, ‘Extraction’, ‘A Perfect Getaway’ and ‘Ghostbusters’ among others.

Hollywood star, Chris Hemsworth, renowned for his role as Thor, god of thunder, in Marvel Cinematic Universe’s titular movies as well as Avengers, has been visiting Kenya.

The actor was in Kenya where he went on safari according to photos he has shared on his social media.

He was in company of his wife, Elsa Pataky (also a Hollywood actress), and their children.

On Sunday, Hemsworth tweeted photos of he, the wife and son sitting on an open safari vehicle with a picturesque sunset serving as a backdrop. In another photo, the actor is holding playfully holds his son in what seems like playtime.

The wife Elsa also posed with a kid (little goat) which she admiringly held in her arms.

Hemsworth is known for films like Star Trek, Red Dawn, Extraction, A Perfect Getaway and Ghostbusters among others.

It is not yet known which national park in particular that the family visited. But Hemsworth shared videos of elephants and lions on his Instagram. He also posed with a group of camels.

He described the trip as “one of the most memorable trips to Kenya my family and I have ever had”. He thanked Africa Born “for taking care of us”.

Africa Born specializes in tailor made safaris and Indian Ocean adventures.

It is the second luxurious trip Hemsworth and his family have taken in recent weeks, having returned from a vacation to Fiji earlier this month.

The Hollywood power couple spent their days surfing and soaking up the sun at a luxury resort on Tavarua, Fiji as they celebrated Christmas with their loved ones.

This is all happening at a time the actor is appreciative, maybe more than ever, of the significance of living in the moment.

It comes at the time the 39-year-old actor has recently discovered worrying news about his health, during the filming of Limitless, a National Geographic documentary series he stars in.

While working on the documentary which is about pushing back on the natural decline that comes with time and aging, Hemsworth underwent genetic tests to see what the future might have waiting for him.

After the tests were conducted, it was discovered his gene makeup includes two copies of the gene APOE4, one from his mother, the other from his father, which studies have linked to an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease.

One in four people carry a single copy of the gene, but only 2 to 3% of the population have both, according to a 2021 study by the National Institutes of Health.

“The show (Limitless), which initially was an exploration of longevity and, of course, should be fun, became even more relevant and important for me, even more poignant than I ever thought it would be,” the actor and father of 3 said in an interview with Vanity Fair.

He adds that it was a really good catalyst to dive into everything he needed to be doing in either the prevention front or the management front of the medical condition.

“Most of us, we like to avoid speaking about death in the hope that we’ll somehow avoid it. We all have this belief that we’ll figure it out. Then to all of a sudden be told some big indicators are actually pointing to this as the route which is going to happen, the reality of it sinks in. Your own mortality,” the actor says.
