Weasel’s embattled girlfriend asks Daniella to stay away from her family issues

Sandra’s latest stance could further dampen the momentum the campaign for her justice had gained. As it stands, there are allegations but no victim. Critics say Sandra has been pressured by Weasel’s powerful family to act like all is well.

Sandra Teta, the embattled girlfriend to singer Weasel has asked Daniella Atim (wife to Jose Chameleone) to stay away from her family, in what looks like a major blow to the efforts of those supporting her against domestic violence.

Over the last month, Weasel has been at the center of controversy following fresh allegations that he assaulted his girlfriend. It is not the first time the former member of Goodlyfe is being accused of beating up Sandra.

The singer is subject of an ongoing investigation by Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate (CID).

Despite the allegations and a viral photo which showed Sandra with a terribly bruised face, the two (Weasel and Sandra) have made public appearances together, projecting an impression that all is well.

When the allegations first emerged, Sandra claimed she was was attacked by thugs.

Now, in her first public statement on the matter, Sandra has criticized Daniella for interfering in the issues of her family. She says Daniella’s concerns are nothing but pretence.

“I would really like to appreciate the efforts of Daniella Atim and Mama Ghetto (wife to singer Buchaman). Enough is enough, because whatever campaign they are doing they are doing it based on speculation. None of them bothered to call me to know what was going on,” Sandra said in a recorded video clip that emerged Tuesday evening.

“Daniella is family, but how do you make the first post, second post, without calling to know how someone is and to know whether what your talking about is real or if I’m doing good?”

Sandra is currently in Rwanda (her home country) where she is reported to have gone for a break. Prior to that, her parents had been in Uganda to intervene in the situation.

The former Rwanda beauty queen added…”I don’t know how you (Daniella and Mama Ghetto) start posting that. I would really like to ask them to step out of my family business and let me handle it as me Sandra Teta because this is my family you’re talking about.”

A few weeks ago, Mama Ghetto revealed that Sandra had some time last year packed her bags and left Weasel following an incident where he beat her. Along with her two kids, she had sought solace at Mama Ghetto’s.

“She was so determined. She told me her mind was made, to leave the relationship. We actually went to Police. However, when she made phone calls to some relatives, they talked her out of filing a case,” Mama Ghetto said in a recent interview.

She says Sandra is in danger, and went on to appeal to women’s rights activists to come out and protect her from Weasel.

According to her, this pattern of violence will negatively affect Sandra’s children.

On Tuesday, Daniella posted a clip containing a recorded voice note that Weasel is said to have sent to Buchaman (husband to Mama Ghetto) warning him to tame his wife.

“Tell your woman to stay away from my family matters. She doesn’t know how far we’ve come. Control her because she’s going to escalate things to the next level. She has no evidence (about the domestic violence allegations) beyond reasonable doubt, and I’m going to sue her for defamation,” Weasel says in the recording.

In Rwanda, just as in Uganda, the controversy has attracted sharp criticism towards Weasel who many say must be held accountable for his actions. In Uganda, there have been calls for events organizers to blacklist him.

However, Sandra’s latest stance could further dampen the momentum the campaign for her justice had gained. As it stands, there are allegations but no victim. Critics say Sandra has been pressured by Weasel’s powerful family to act like all is well.

Several celebrities have stood in solidarity with Sandra, the latest being Sheebah.

During an interview while she was in Rwanda days ago, the Nkwata Bulungi singer said: “I don’t like it when men disrespect women. When you beat a woman, you’re beating your own mother. That wasn’t the first time Teta was being hit. We’ve all read the stories.”

“We need to respect ourselves as women as well. You can’t stay in a place where a man beats you everyday. I feel terrible for Teta. She needed to fight as a woman for her children.”

She appealed to the authorities (law enforcement) to penalize Weasel so that he appreciates that it is not okay to repeat this habit. According to her, celebrities must learn that they can’t break the law and get away with it.

While she expressed sympathy towards Sandra for enduring the traumatic experience, Sheebah asked her to become an advocate of women’s rights.
