What’s on the itinerary for Tooro kingdom’s maiden cultural and tourism fest, ‘Ekyooto Ha Mpango’?

Travelers seeking to visit Kabarole during the festival will enjoy discounted tourism packages for groups, individuals, families and companies, to enable them experience the beauty and thrill across the region.

Tooro Kingdom has put together an activity-packed itinerary for travel enthusiasts seeking to satisfy their love for culture, scenery and adventure, in the kingdom’s maiden ‘Ekyooto Ha Mpango’ festival in November.

The cultural and tourism festival will open on November 25 and run for three days. It will be an annual event that looks to showcase what Tooro has to offer as a travel destination.

The itinerary includes a Royal Tour of the Tooro Palace. The tour of the palace which overlooks Fort Portal town at Karuzika hill will be led by the Omukama (King) of Tooro himself, His Majesty Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru, and is scheduled for November 24 to 26.

Omukama Oyo will take guests from other kingdoms around key tourism destinations in Tooro.

On November 26, the Omukama will host The Royal Dinner Gala, complete with a documentary premiere of “Rwenzori- Mountains of the moon”, musical entertainment, and a fashion and art show case featuring creatives from the region.

The following day will be about adventure and sports activities.

Participants will engage in a Boat Regatta, adventure cycling, and fun-run among others. Registration for the festival activities is ongoing on the festival website.

Key destinations include the Tooro palace, Lake Saaka, Kyeganywa hill, Fort Portal town, Sempaya hot springs in Semliki national park, Kibaale national park, Amabere ga Nyina Mwiru and crater lakes within the Tooro region.

A cultural music festival is also lined up.

The musical showcase will feature local artistes from Tooro region and guest performances from Aziz Azion, Draei Bitsc, Beenie Gunter, Pearl of Africa Stars, Ayesiga Muzamil, Kigambo Araali, Carol Kay, Holy Trimmy, Tony Blackman, Tai Tan, Home of Talent, Sagio Mhza. Harubengo School of culture, Janzi Band, Dj Regniq among others.

An inter-denominational thanksgiving service and closing day brunch are to be held on the last day.

In partnership with the ‘Pet a Tree’ initiative, the kingdom will engage in tree planting.
