George the Poet married his Ugandan Lover, Sandra and she vowed to cook for him matoke

The acclaimed poet in December last year proposed to the longtime girlfriend, which he later said turned out 10 times better considering the joy it brought people.

British-Ugandan spoken-word artist, George the poet has shared highlights of his big day – wedding with Ugandan fiancée Sandra Diana Makumbi.

Their wedding took place at the end of last month in London where the couple lives. The acclaimed poet in December last year proposed to the longtime girlfriend, which he later said turned out 10 times better considering the joy it brought people.

A 4-minute video clip posted on Instagram by the poet who has roots in Uganda, captures the moments as the two prepared for their wedding. Along with the celebrations that followed.

That morning, he sent her a note reading…. “I love you and we ain’t getting no younger. So, let’s get married”.

The note was accompanied with a gift – an expensive Cartier bracelet – and Sandra couldn’t hide the excitement.

George Mpanga and his groomsmen dressed in black tuxedo suits, complete with black bowties. The bride wore a beautiful off-the-shoulder gown. For Sandra, the moment for the vows was a teary one. It seems joy engulfed her.

“I promise to love you and I promise to cook for you matoke,” she said in her vows, as everyone in church laughed.

The Mpangas later hosted their guests to a lively and eventful reception which climaxed with a fireworks showcase. At the reception, the couple changed into white outfits that were much more comfy for them to grove with ease.

Did we mention that George’s favorite drink – Uganda Waragi pineapple flavor – too was invited to the party?
